History
The airport was originally built for the Vietnamese Air Force use. After reunification of Vietnam in 1975 the Hanoi Noi Bai airport became an international public airport while continuing to serve for military purposes. A new international Terminal 1 was announced in 1995 and put into operation in October 2001.
